Healing within Suffering

written 1/6/2025, by Aubrie F.

SEEK was the perfect way to kick off this jubilee year of hope in the church. The Church gives us this year to help us focus on renewing our spiritual lives, and between all the amazing talks (check out SEEK25 Replay), the sacraments of Holy Mass and Reconciliation, adoration with thousands of other young Catholics, and of course, some Forrest Frank, we are feeling more ready than ever to run the race this year.

Getting some fuel in the ‘spiritual gas tank’ is a great thing, but what we do following this time of the SEEK conference is pivotal! Will we keep saying yes to following Jesus after returning back home or heading back to campus for another semester?

IT’S HARD!

I know one thing I will come back to when my ‘tank’ isn’t feeling quite as full is reflecting on the notes I took while listening to Fr. James Brent, O.P. give his talk, “Healed by the Cross.”

He spoke beautifully about how God is always working for our complete recovery and healing- at a spiritual level- because He desires for us to enter into full union with Him in Heaven.

Even when we don’t receive the healing or relief we may pray fervently for- or encounter sufferings He does not take away- we can be confident that God will come to dwell with us in the depths and meet us in our suffering.

Whether you went to SEEK or not, if you’re a young adult, I pray you’ll consider Biking for Babies’ mission opportunity as a way to continue to grow in your faith this year. It has been an adventure with Christ that has transformed the hearts of young adults like you, and I don’t want you to miss out on being a part of it all! It may just be the next right thing to do as you continue to follow Him!
