Forming Your 2025 Resolutions

written 12/27/2024, by Aubrie F.

Yup, it’s time to start nailing down those New Year’s resolutions! As Christians, we can take this opportunity to recommit ourselves to a life of faith and service of the Lord. As you set goals for 2025 to help you grow closer to God, here are five verses to pray with:

1. “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” (Proverbs 16:3)

Perhaps 2025 is the year for you to work on sanctifying your everyday work and actions. A tangible way to implement this: start each day with a moment of reflection and surrender, asking Him to guide your efforts and to use your actions to bring glory to His name. You can pray a daily offering prayer like this one, offering your whole day to Him from the very start!

2. “I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of His body, that is, the church.” (Colossians 1:24)

Many of us face physical discomfort or challenges throughout our lives, whether it’s through exercise, fasting, or even daily stresses. Instead of avoiding painful or burdensome goals, approach them as opportunities to unite your suffering with Christ’s sacrifice. In moments of pain, He offers us the opportunity to unite ourselves with Him on the Cross, inviting us into His mission to redeem the world from sin and death.

3. “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” (1 Peter 4:10)

Your Christian walk isn’t just about personal growth, but also about serving others. One powerful way to live out your faith is by intentionally serving others, especially those in need. How can your goals impact causes that align with bringing about the will of God here on earth? Whether it’s offering a helping hand, praying for others, or donating to those in need, these actions keep our hearts open to Love and help us fulfill the call to “love your neighbor as yourself.”

4. “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” (Proverbs 27:17)

It’s easy to set spiritual resolutions but difficult to stay committed without support. Build an accountability network with like-minded Christian friends or mentors who can encourage you, pray for you, and help you stay focused on your goals. If you don’t have this community of young adults who share your desire to grow in faith and support families in need, perhaps joining the Biking for Babies community as a missionary is the right way for you to receive encouragement, prayer, and fellowship throughout the year.

5. “We rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame.” (Romans 5:3-5)

Lastly, stay anchored in the hope that Christ offers. Sometimes our resolutions can feel overwhelming and we can feel discouraged especially when challenges arise. But always remember that Christ’s grace is sufficient for you. When you feel like you’re not making progress or when you experience setbacks, turn to Him and trust in His perfect plan. He is faithful to complete the work He begins in us (Philippians 1:6), and He will give you the strength to persevere.

As you enter 2025, remember that your spiritual growth and sacrifices matter to God. He sees every prayer, every act of service, and every moment of suffering offered in love. Whether you’re striving to grow in faith or to support mothers and families in crisis, trust that God is with you every step of the way.

At Biking for Babies, we are proud to walk alongside you as you become who God is calling you to be.
