Picture these two scenes in your mind:
A woman stands in front of her bathroom mirror, looking back and forth between her face of shock and the two pink lines lying below her. Knowing that her life will never be the same leaves her mourning a somewhat planned future. But rising quickly within her is the conviction that the child inside of her is a unique, irreplaceable human being who deserves her ‘yes’ to life. To this end, she realizes she cannot make this journey alone and needs help navigating forward.
Another woman pedals hundreds of miles across the country, shedding sweat and tears, her feet blistered and her body weary, of how she will reach her goal. Yet she is strengthened by a vision of a culture where the dignity of human life is upheld and protected. Drawing courage from the community journeying alongside her, she presses on through the pain, remembering she is riding for the real support of expecting families.
Though these two women may never cross paths, they are united by a shared truth: amidst isolation and hardship, they find strength in community, hope in the dignity of the unborn, and purpose in a culture that cherishes life.
This is the mission of Biking for Babies: to proclaim the dignity of human life by uniting cycling with the formation of young adults into missionary disciples for Jesus Christ. For Biking for Babies, cultural transformation requires both the conversion of society in the long term and meeting the needs of families facing unplanned pregnancies today.
How does Biking for Babies carry out this mission? Biking for Babies commits to equipping a group of young adults, physically and spiritually, to journey on a cross-country cycling expedition called the National Ride, completing nearly 600 miles in just 6 days for their own personal transformation, the support of expecting families, and the renewal of the culture of life.
Throughout their preparation and formation, which culminates in the National Ride, these young adults partner closely with pregnancy resource centers across the country to help promote their mission of providing free support and resources to those experiencing unexpected, difficult, or at-risk pregnancies.
83 missionaries will be embarking on this adventure of a lifetime in the 2025 National Ride, which begins July 14.
Six teams will travel from Huntsville, AL; Lincoln, NE;Rochester, MN; Green Bay, WI; Ann Arbor, MI; and Columbus, OH, to converge in St. Louis. Three teams will depart from Columbus, OH, Raleigh, NC, and Portland, ME, and converge in Philadelphia. (See if there’s a stop and public event near you!)
By embodying the simple truth that every human person possesses profound dignity, through both words and actions, Biking for Babies envisions generations transformed by a culture of life. Just as every individual benefits from the support of a caring community, the responsibility to uphold and promote this culture rests with each person. Biking for Babies invites others to join in their mission, pedaling together toward the renewal of a culture of life.
