A Story of Hope from Pregnancy Care Center of Rockford

*This story is shared in our 2026 Life Guide, a formation resource for our young adult missionaries. It’s meant to inspire them, and we hope it inspires you as well.

“Do you think God will forgive me for having an abortion?”

Sami sat in our center trembling as she stared through tear filled eyes at the positive pregnancy test in her hands. She and her boyfriend were both unemployed and they were staying at their parents’ house along with their one year old son.

This pregnancy could not have happened at a worse time, and Sami was heavily struggling with her decision on a spiritual level. Her boyfriend and family were encouraging her to choose an abortion, but she wondered if God would punish her for doing so.

The client advocate she met with encouraged her to see this as part of God’s plan; he makes no mistakes.

Sami returned a week later for another ultrasound, and she shared with her client advocate that she had been praying about this decision all week. She asked God to send her a light pink rose if she should keep this baby, and he would allow everything to work out. Alternatively, she prayed that he would send her an orange rose so she knew he would forgive her for moving forward with an abortion.

Sami walked in that day and was greeted by a vase of pink roses sitting on our reception desk. She knew in that moment that God was going to provide despite the fear and hesitation that weighed on her. She left that day fearful but with a deeper trust of God’s providence.

She called us two months later and signed up for our Countdown to Parenthood program. Not only did Sami choose life for her baby, she chose a life of abundance built upon complete surrender and trust in God’s providence.

Genuinely, it IS because of your support of Biking for Babies and our mission to renew the culture of life through young adult formation and support of pregnancy resource centers that stories like Sami’s exist.

For that, we are so so grateful for your continued support of Biking for Babies.
