Think back to the days of riding your bike in the late evening (with or without a helmet depending on how strict Mom was), and the emotions that flying down hills brought you.
The wind in your face, the feeling of freedom and joy, the excitement for how you’d handle the next bump in the road–would you ramp it, or would it toss you to the ground? It wouldn’t matter, because at least you were outside, enjoying life.
Riding a bike seems to be one of the most timeless and universal experiences of childhood in America, and for good reason!
There’s a beautiful taste of freedom that comes with being able to get yourself around; a feeling of unbridled exhilaration that comes with feeling the wind on your face; a fondness for the days of youth and the carefree nature associated with it.
Simplicity. Goodness. Peace.
It’s one of our favorite reasons to ride bikes and why we’ve made it a part of our mission. Because cycling touches all of those things in such a common way, and people don’t even have to be “good at it” to enjoy it.
Cycling can often be considered a solitary sport, but if you’ve ever watched the Tour de France, you realize the need for a total support system.
This translates back to the Christian life, where we’re not meant to go it alone, and to the families served by pregnancy centers, who often find a needed system of support in those staff and volunteers.
So if you want to return to the days-of-old, where getting back before the street lamps came on was your biggest concern, and if you want to help families who need community, just like we all do, we invite you to check out our local Rides for Life.
We’ve built opportunities in certain parts of the country where anyone–of any age and any experience level–can ride together in renewal of the culture of life.
Each year you ride in a Ride for Life, you support the pregnancy resource centers and maternity homes that serve women and families in our part of the country.
Your participation could be the reason a woman chooses life for her child.
Your riding could be the reason a family is healed.
Your financial contribution could be what it takes for a family to not just survive an unplanned pregnancy, but THRIVE with one.
Your gift certainly WILL be a reason the work to renew the culture of life in our nation continues.
