Do Not Be Greedy, Share the Mission

Hello Biking for Babies Friends and Family!

We’ve talked a lot this year about being pro-life and really living in a pro-every-life way, not simply saying it. I hope you have reflected on what that means and that you are ensuring you embody what these values encompass.

Being pro-life is hard! But Jesus didn’t call us to live easy lives, did he? He asks each of us to pick up our cross every day, and in addition to that, He wants us to help each other. He calls us to communion with each other.

I recently read my kiddos the Parable of the Lost Sheep:

“If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders away, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost? And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he will rejoice over it more than over the ninety-nine that didn’t wander away! In the same way, it is not my heavenly Father’s will that even one of these little ones should perish” – Matthew 18: 12-14.

As I read, I could see the awe in the faces of my two oldest.

Why does God leave the ninety-nine? They seemed to wonder. And I began to wonder that as well.

It’s obvious that each of us is so important to God that He will leave the ninety-nine, even for just one lost sheep. After some further thought, I realized that God knows that the ninety-nine of us that are together will help each other. He is confident that we will be ok without Him for the moment, because we have one another.

Much like the community at Biking for Babies, we now have each other for support. But we cannot be greedy with our newly founded understanding of what it means to be pro-life. We may not be greedy with the joys of the Gospel. We are called to be lights in the world, beacons of hope bringing the truth to the world.

In my previous career, one of my mottos was leave the space better than you found it (teaching my team to clean up even if they felt too busy). Let us clean up the space around us, making it better than we found it. Let us go after the one who needs hope and beauty because the darkness and fear feels too large to overcome. Go and be the one who brings them the love that you experience through our Lord.

A special note-

Thank you for joining us this year! Every day a woman considers abortion and every day there are pregnancy resource centers to serve her and her family. There are less than 3 weeks until our fiscal year ends, so consider giving a gift to help a woman and her family choose life. Biking for Babies, thanks to you, has had a very successful 2019 National Ride season. As we look back on this year, our 10th anniversary, we are thrilled to say that 34 young adult missionaries are equipped with what it takes to go out and live the Gospel of Life. Please continue to pray for the missionaries as they finish their season; they are the changemakers that are going to spread God’s love and continue to bring people to the life-affirming beauty that takes place at pregnancy resource centers. Our Biking for Babies team has together raised more than the $82,000 we raised for pregnancy resource centers last year (more to come after our fiscal year wraps up!). I’m so thankful for you and your yes to this mission, whether it be through prayers, financial giving, or uplifting support by sending an email note that you read this. I look forward to the end of this season with hope and assurance that we are changing the world.

For Life,

Nikki
