No Off Days: a missionary story

posted 5/11/2026

This story is a part of a series of missionary contributions where you’ll hear more about their “why” for defending and celebrating life with Biking for Babies.

Max is a third-year rider missionary who is the MN Team Leader this year.

SW: How has this year gone so far for you? What’s keeping you motivated?

MC: This year has been great so far! My team is full of excited and passionate missionaries who are all working hard to prepare themselves both physically and spiritually for the ride. I myself have been feeling good on the bike. I just had a wonderful call with my PRC last week where we talked all about the issues that my PRC is seeing most, and how they are combating them. Those are the things that keep me motivated. Every time I feel like skipping a training ride or not doing a fundraising outreach, I try to remind myself about the gravity of what we are doing. There are mothers, fathers, and children out there that NEED our prayers and support. What we are asking them to do in saying “yes” to life is so much harder than going on a training ride or making an outreach call. I have to remind myself that if a mother doesn’t get to choose which days she will be pregnant, and which days she will take off, then I shouldn’t get to choose which days I am a pro-life missionary and which days I will take off. It’s the least I can do when I am asking them to take on so much more than what I am taking on.

SW: Any God moments so far?

MC: I just had a very nice interaction on Sunday after Mass where the couple I sat next to ended up chatting with me. I told them about Biking for Babies, and they made a donation and invited me to have breakfast with them after Mass. We talked for a while and had a very nice conversation. They were good people, and I was glad that I met them, but it only really happened because I accidentally sat in the wrong pew after coming back from communion which made it feel a bit like a God moment.

SW: How can our supporters pray for you?

MC: For continued diligence with my Biking for Babies Team Leader and missionary duties. It can be hard to keep getting all of the logistical things done as the [National Ride] draws near, so prayers for my ability to continue working hard would be greatly appreciated.
