Finding New Life: A PRC Story

Over the next few months, Biking for Babies will highlight our pregnancy resource center partners. If you are in close proximity to a center, we invite you to volunteer your time or gifts, to join them on the front line of the pro-life movement, to save lives. If you know someone who could benefit from the resources and support of this center, forward this blog post to them. God bless!

Pregnancy Aid Clinic’s motto is “making it possible for women and families in metro Atlanta to choose life.” They have two permanent clinics and one RV mobile clinic. Pregnancy Aid’s Director of Development Diane (what an alliteration!) shared this recent story of hope:

avaMiriam was working at an abortion facility in the recovery room making a substantial amount of money that she needed to take care of her 3 young boys. She didn’t like her job and was told “not to get so personal” or “be so caring” with the clients she tended to in recovery. She had become a Patient Care Technician because she wanted to care for people and was bothered by such a strange request.

During her time working at the facility she became pregnant. She already had 3 young boys; and her boyfriend was unpredictable, not working and not providing emotional support. She was also nervous, scared and concerned about what her family would think of her. She immediately considered terminating her pregnancy. It was only by the grace of God that she walked through our Roswell clinic doors several months ago. To retain confidentiality, she didn’t want to have an abortion with her employer, so she came to our clinic assuming we also provided the same services.

We offered her a free pregnancy test, free ultrasound and REAL OPTIONS – such as adoption referrals, prenatal referrals, assistance with Medicaid applications, free parenting classes, goal-setting class, men’s groups, mom’s groups, one-on-one mentoring, earn as you learn programs for gear and supplies like car seats, clothing and diapers. Miriam quickly came to understand that we were what she needed most – a place where someone cared to listen without any judgment, just  unconditional love.

Not only did she choose life for her beautiful daughter Ava (above), she returned to attending church services, chose to quit her job and took a much lower paying job with a daycare so she could bring her daughter to work with her. She went from working in an environment that promotes death, to working with new life. She wants to continue to develop her career
as a Patient Care Technician, but in a positive environment. Her PAC advocate is helping her in this endeavor. Please send her your prayers.
