I have been involved with Biking for Babies from its beginning. At first, I was just the tshirt designer, video editor, and doer of odd jobs. Then, last year, while driving the support vehicle for the riders, I couldn’t help but wish that I too was pedaling a bike on the tarmac.

This year, despite my unimpressively average athleticism and fears of failure, I have decided to follow in the pedal strokes of my close friend Mike and attempt the longest ride in the short existence of Biking for Babies.

Thanks to the generosity of a local sponsor, I have been able to purchase a bike. Thanks to the service of the Women’s Care Center Foundation, I have a charity for which to ride. Thanks to the Congregation of Holy Cross, I have loyal priests, brothers, and seminarians to hold me accountable. Thanks to my parents and sister, I have the best supporters in the world. And, most especially, thanks to the One who formed me, created me, and knows me, I share with all the world the vocation to love more fully and to live more abundantly.

May we who are called to this vocation “spend ourselves and be spent for the needs of neighbors.” May we “give witness while others hesitate” and may we “stand by duty when it has become all burden and no delight.”1 May we, who have freely received, now give freely.

P.S. I hope you can help me raise $15,000 for Pro-Life charities. I can’t do it alone!
